"I don't think he would've picked you if he thought it was the wrong idea. Maybe he saw it as risky, but right. He had some sort of knowledge to go by." Shiki narrowed her eyes, "I don't like the sound of this old organization. I didn't know it until it changed to the Network."

I shrugged. "The guys who ran it let everyone kind of run things their own way. Every chapter ran things different; there was no leadership, no centralized organization anymore. Mr. H wanted to change that. So.... he helped me come to his point of view on my own, then... nurse me to leading a takeover. Things were pretty bad. There were some things that... well. I know for a fact that some of the old guard Watchers were working with the demons behind the backs of the rest of the group. And not demons like Celty, either."

Her eyebrows raised, "Would it be wrong of me to call them traitors?"
She smiled, "I think you did a nice job. The Network is much better off now. I probably wouldn't have asked to join if it was still the way it was."

"They were dealt with as traitors deserve. And if it were still the way it was, I don't know if you'd ever have learned about it. I'm still finding Otherborn who should've been contacted, who are still in the files, that have no clue we even exist." I put my face in my palm. "THings were a mess when I got in. I still don't know how we managed to pull it off. Izzy, Dem, Lea, and I..."

She gave him a kick under the table, not hard though, "Hey, you did your best and you're still doing your best. You guys pulled it off and that's what counts. It sounded like everything was pretty bad."

I nodded. "At the end, they managed to call up a master demon from the Otherworld and everybody had to fight. We got rid of it, got the leadership of the Network, and after he helped me settle ino the position, Mr. H up and left." I shrugged.

"Whoa. Don't know why that surprises me." She nodded, "I guess he felt that his work was done."

"Yeah. It surprised me too... I guess I was angry with him for a long time. After this happened... I dunno, Ithink I was angry at him again. I just... I just decided, eventually, that being angry with him never works and to give up on it." I chuckled. "I mean, it never has in the past... best not to waste time on it now."

She giggled, "Yeah I get you. He was one of those people that I could never really stay mad at no matter what."

"Because you just knew that he was totally okay wit you being mad at him, and was right and would continue to be right, and help you, no matter what you felt."

Now she started laughing, "Yes, Neku. That's exactly it!"
She smiled, "Sorry, I must seem really crazy. I just never thought I'd be able to talk to anyone about this and have them understand all of what I mean."

"No, no," I said, laughing myself. "I completely understand."

"The old guy is such a pain sometimes," I complained, but it was an affectionate complaint. The kind I used to complain about Nami. "Seriously. But... he was a cool guy all the same. He kind of saved my life in a lotta ways."

"I agree one hundred percent on that." She nodded, "I seriously think the only way I can repay him is to give the life he gave to me back."
